I was scrolling to hit ‘like’ and in my peripheral noticed that subtle change image to image. Gave me a bit of a start.
Love the mental picture of a space between chairs. So poignant.

Would you explain the differences between the two?

The problem is mine: I don’t like straight translations, however ‘accurate’ they may be. The use of language is so different in Chinese and English. So I had to choose between a true word for word translation (like cloning Marilyn Monroe except change her DNA to Chinese) or create an artwork from the live model. One would be a freak and the other…well, depends on the artist, doesn’t it? 🙂 That is the risk one takes, or not.

Oh, yes. I understand. Word for word translations often lack “heart,” for want of a better word, leaving out the subtleties of word play, the beauty of a phrase, the sonic dance. I much prefer the artist’s take.
