An evening with poets Chip Dameron and Robert Okaji
Some of you may want to jet in for this event. Or not. Chip is certainly worth the effort!

If I wasn’t about 8000 miles away, I’d certainly come.

What’s a few thousand miles among friends? 🙂

For me it’s not the miles but the hours. I’m already booked, but someday… Time and distance, subjects for a poet. Hope it goes well, Robert.

Time and distance, indeed. Thank you, Angela. It’ll be fun. I’ve not read in quite a while.

Right up the road from Houston. Hmmmm.

We’re practically neighbors, Linda. I had no idea you were in Texas.

Yes. Just got an inkling of proximity from your ‘Bandera’ poem. Originally a Bostonian and moved to Houston from SF Bay Area. Neighbors indeed!

I’ll be waiting for Len to pick me up on his way there.

You may have a parking problem. Unless the jet is small, that is.

Will it be recorded? o-or what about if it’s not then like recording yourself reading the same set for those of us who may not have enough fuel in the private jet to get over there? Just an idea, or was that two ideas?

Malvern records some of their events. I dunno about this one. And I think it was two ideas, but things don’t always add up for me this early in the day.

Robert, I second (or third or …) Jeff’s idea of recording the event. Hope to hear this reading, as well as what poems (or surprises!) you’ve selected to read.

I’m planning on reading perhaps five poems from the chapbook and five others, three of which are unpublished but in circulation out there in the world.

I’ll be there in spirit. Do record it for those of us who couldn’t be there. Break a leg.

Thanks, Mary. I’ll look for your spirit. It should be easy to spot – the biggest in the room.

I’m so excited for you, Bob! As someone said (what DO you say to a poet about to take the stage?!), break a . . . foot (seems kind of appropriate for poetry)!

Yes! Break a foot. Love it! Thanks, Leigh.
