My poem “Cyborg Sky Burial” has now been posted among the day nine offerings of the Tupelo Press 30/30 Project (9 poets have agreed to write 30 poems apiece in 30 days, to raise funds for Tupelo Press, a non-profit literary publisher). Many thanks to Atomic Geography, who provided the title.
Cyborg Sky Burial
Who will render the fleshless,
the bones which are not bone?
This cloud holds water…

Tomorrow’s poem is titled “Never Drink Anything Blue,” thanks to the generosity of Jim Feeney. Please consider sponsoring a poem – there are available slots for Friday and beyond. Conjure up a title (be creative, be weird, be gentle, be poetic), donate $10 to Tupelo Press, let me know what the title is, and I’ll write the poem. The sponsored poems thus far have been a blast to write, and the titles have led me to poems I’d not otherwise have written. If you’re so inclined, please visit the 30/30 blog at: Donate to Tupelo. Scroll down to “Is this donation in honor of a 30/30 poet?” and select my name, “Robert Okaji,” from the pull down so that Tupelo knows to credit the donation to me. And please let me know as soon as possible what your title is.

Thank you for your support! Only 21 poems to go!
I’ve been enjoying reading these Tupelo poems…both yours and those of several other poets.

Thanks, Judy. It’s been an interesting project, and I’m really pleased to be a part of it – never knowing what’ll come my way certainly has kept me on my toes!

I’ve done NaPoWriMo for three years but it is frustrating that there is really no easy way to connect with others doing it. Wish they’d do a page like the WordPress Daily Prompt does. Or, perhaps there is someway to connect that I’ve forgotten! know that’s how I first connected with you, but can’t remember how.

You might consider the Tupelo Press challenge. You’d be with a small group of like-minded individuals, very supportive and kind. I don’t recall how we first connected. I think we somehow found each other’s blog.

Robert, I love it that you are doing the challenge! Such a mix of ideas.

I knew I’d enjoy the challenge of producing a poem every single day, but the title sponsorships have added an additional level of interest and enjoyment. So I’m having a ball! 🙂

Really enjoyed this Robert. Loved the ending. Congrats and thanks for the opportunity to participate.

with barley flour and thrown to the crows.
A drone appears and they scatter.”

The chapbook arrived over the weekend. Thanks so much for it and the lovely inscription! We were traveling so I haven’t had the chance to read it yet. (I know it is great fun for people to send you a title for a poem, but I thought I’d post here as a reminder that other premiums are available.)

Thanks, Joanne. I’m glad it arrived safely. The “name that poem” option is by far the most popular, but I’ve hopes that a few of the other incentives will generate some interest, too.
