I have three poems appearing in the latest (and evidently the last) issue of Shadowtrain. Many thanks to editor Ian Seed, for allowing these to hop aboard.

Beautiful poems, Robert. I keep seeing that shrouded room.

They chose well when they included these three poems for their last issue. You will not be forgotten!

I believe the editor is going to start a new lit-mag in the spring.

Congratulations! It’s sad that the journal is ending, though, even if a new one will begin next year.

This is the third journal since January to quit publishing shortly after taking my poems. Hmm. Is there a trend?

Well, the good part of the trend is getting so many poems published. It is unfortunate that so many journals are folding, though. When I did my first major batch of submissions this summer using the Poets & Writers database, I sent them several emails of journals that were no longer at the links listed and I was only dealing with a few pages of the database.

I also had submissions out to two others that have disappeared (or at least their websites are gone). Running a journal takes an incredible amount of time and energy – I’m grateful to those who manage to endure.

“despite our best inattentions”. Yet another opportunity for us to envy your turn of phrase. I’m glad you could share that with us.

Thank you. That particular poem had been rejected quite a few times. I was glad to find a home for it.

I particularly liked “Ghosts”. Robert, do you know the Winning Writers newsletter at winningwriters.com? It comes out monthly (I think) and contains lots of listings of journals looking for submissions.

I don’t know it. Thank you for pointing it out.

Beautiful meditations, Bob. And — as long as you emerge to write — you spend just the right amount of time in the shrouded room.

I pop out frequently, if only for sustenance. 🙂
