Door
What would you conceal?
Or open to. Could you unfurl
your fist to daylight
and shudder loss away — one key,
one digit, one death — presuming the universe
and all its hinges available for inspection
behind yet another unlatched presence.
And this spinning disk,
how shall we step off? Every moon
sheds its coat. Listening, I turn the knob.
O at the Edges

I love the image of a fist unfurling — something solid and powerful which turns out to be subject to the wind. And if you ever determine how safely to step off (I suspect it’s the same trick as dismounting a tiger) let us know!

Hi Robert, I don’t remember if I ever thanked you for following my blog. I have been following yours for awhile, but have not kept up with it as much as I would like to. I try to with all my followers, and now that is getting harder to do.

Nicely done! This poem is open to interpretation. But I’ve decided that the door is a symbol for the narrator’s acceptance of the afterlife and the previous stanzas were about their mental mindset, shaking off all fear and insecurity. It has a surreal tone similar to a Dali or Magritte painting. 🙂
