Some Dogs are Larger Than Others
How he stares
at you,
relentless
in his desire,
offering
belly to scratch
and head to pet
just when you most
need them,
even if
you don’t know it,
then curling
against you, saying
in the language
of warmth and fur,
this, just this.
Ah, the love of a dog. It’s the best. This is so special. Love it.

And I had a little one too. They are best snugglers!

This goofy guy isn’t much of a chaser. He prefers laps and naps.

I am a cat lover myself. But there is also little better in life than spending an afternoon with a pug!

Cats seem to like me, but I, alas, am allergic to some of them. I’ve never been able to tell which ones. But the dogs keep us plenty busy.

What you are allergic to is their saliva. They lick their fur then you react to it when you pet them or come into contact with shed fur.

But there is hope. There are many, many cats out there you won’t be allergic too for the same reason. Seek and ye shall find a cat that is physiochemically compatible.

I think for now two dogs are enough. But a cat could be an interesting member of the family someday.

If you do a thorough search, and find the right cat, the rewards are endless. With so many breeds and personalities to consider, the right cat is priceless, a treasure beyond compare.
Cats are great for writers. They distract you, but will also sit and watch you for hours. Their presence is incredibly soothing, and their playfulness is endlessly entertaining. I also love their blasé toward much of life, while also being highly curious.
No one owns a cat, they are granted the opportunity to be owned by the cat they choose to live with… and as I write this I am being monitored (as always) by my purring, perpetually somnolent seal point Siamese owner…

Yes, for us who are used to having a dog, they are really faithful friends. Yours look lovable. I enjoy reading your poems with your dog in them. Great!

Marvelous! I once had a Yorkshire Terrier that I called Twerp. In the morning he’d stand with his frnt paws on my forehead, his stub of a tail wagging, “Good morning. I have to go out to pee.” Loved that little dog.

We once had an English bulldog who would grab my hand and gently apply pressure to remind me it was breakfast time.
