Bamboo
the ringing in
one’s ear is
not desire but
language the song
of another mouth
moving in a
different wind the
music is nothing
it is all
and has no
substance but that
shaped inside beyond
thought like growth
in a seed
there simply there

Something written in the 80s that seems to fit today’s mood. Funny how that is.
Yeah for the 80’s! This one is special; the one you read over and over. Leo

Thanks, Leo. Most of what I wrote back then doesn’t seem relevant, but this one still does.

The 80s were good to you, I see. This is possibly one of my all time favorites of yours.

I’m curious about where you kept these old poems all this while. Diaries, sheets, discs?

Paper! In folders. Most were written on a typewriter.

Wow. It must be so nostalgic, and hence, so difficult, going through them.

Oh, no. Not much nostalgia at all. Many of them seem to have been written by a stranger or alien being, and much of what I produced then was total crap and will never see the light of day. π

I love the sound of the trees with light wind blowing. Morikami Gardens in Boca Raton has bamboo. The gentle knocking of one branch to another is hypnotic. This is an elegant poem.

I love that sound, too. It winds through much of my writing, even when not apparent.

Robert you were way ahead of the times to have written this in the 80’s! My thoughts were shellacked in Aqua Net at the time. This is so much greener.

Well, you should see the other stuff I wrote (the ones that won’t see the light of day). Ha!
