Chris Thile and Edgar Meyer are both recipients of the MacArthur “genius” fellowships, and Stuart Duncan is a well known fiddle player whose credits are incredible. Fantastic musicians.
If we were to adapt the “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” game to “Six Degrees of Chris Thile,” I would stand only two degrees away, as I was once a member of an ensemble that included someone who plays with him on a regular basis. Of course this makes me sound like a real musician, and I am not. Ha! I could also claim to be two away from Sylvia Plath, which while accurate, does not quite tell the whole story. Oh, these ethereal connections!
I love that. 🙂
My younger daughter went to Albright College, where the “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” game originated–so that connects me, and then you to that . . .
This is wonderful! Thank you!

Thanks so much for posting this, Robert. I had never heard of these guys (well, I did know who Yo-Yo Ma was). They are fantastic.

This was great. Thanks, Robert. Do you ever listen to Chris Thile on what used to be A Prairie Home Companion? I really like him.

I do, on occasion. The timing isn’t right for regular listening, but I enjoy it when I get the chance.

I usually only hear bits and pieces of the show, too. 🙂
