Echo Charm
Right on left, or returned
what circles back, unbroken
yet opened?
Your mouth centers me.
Diminished, I rise, listening.
Grass rubbing against grass.
The lizard’s scarlet throat, swelling.
Not refusal, but denial.
Eyes the color of blood.
You practice your words carefully,
repeating each special phrase.
Blood the color of sky.
Sky the color of eyes.
And always the warm shade.
Charming poem. Thanks for sharing.

Love this poem, thanks for sharing. What’s your favorite kind of poetry to write?

Thank you for reading! Oh, I can’t say that one type or style takes precedent over others. I generally sit, start writing and hope for the best. The poem often takes shape during the writing, unless I’m working within a specific form that requires otherwise. 🙂

I like the progression of directions and colors – dream-like – love the warm-shade closure.

That’s perfectly okay. You might look at the individual lines, paying special attention to the imagery. Do they inspire any feelings, do they spark any emotional response?
