A poet considers the intersections of language and numbers, connections between disparate entities – the currents stirring within the Phoenician iteration of our letter M and the Japanese character for water, mizu, or the intertwined strands of solar wind and shadows, black-chinned hummingbirds and coastal death rituals – all, of course, while contemplating good food and that most magnificent of elixirs, beer, which may have been the very foundation of civilization. Or not.
Hi, thanks for liking my humble post. I’m new to blogging and really didn’t think anyone was reading my stuff.
I’m enjoying your writing myself. I especially enjoyed “The Sky Refutes East and West” and “Gaza.” Beautiful work!
I hope to continue being inspired and write more. Thanks!

Hello,
I’m writing because you liked one of my posts on my blog! It really means the world to me since I am still in the infancy stages of growing my page. Thank you so much!
At the risk of sounding ‘spammy’ I wanted to make a humble request. Back in February my mother was diagnosed with third stage colon cancer and it has flipped our small family completely upside down. She’s unable to work due to being on a ‘light work restriction’ prior to beginning her aggressive chemotherapy treatment and thus trying to provide for her family on an incredibly small level of income. Although she has applied for SSI Disability, she was rejected and is presently trying to work through appealing it. However, in the meantime we are doing anything and everything that we can to make ends meet.
We live in an incredibly small rural community along the Gulf Coast where jobs are very few and far between. Thankfully, I’ve been able to get plugged into some online jobs; one in transcriptions and the other in SEO content market writing. The only problem is, the money that I earn is barely enough to shake a stick at and I’ve got a sick mom and a twelve year old brother to consider. As I’m sure you can imagine it is a very difficult and trying time but we are resilient and trust that we will make it through somehow.
What I wanted to ask is if you might consider sponsoring/backing us by donating to our cancer relief crowdfunding campaign. It has been the primary way which my family has been able to keep their heads above water. In April, our only mode of transportation finally gave out because of a problem with the transmission and it was only because of the generosity of so many donors that we were able to use some of the funds towards a down payment that was sufficient enough to finance a used vehicle! It may seem like ‘begging’ or ‘panhandling’ but please understand that I am just a scared, confused and anxiety-riddled son trying to do whatever he can to help his mom.
We also believe in full accountability and transparency with regards to what the money is being raised for. Some of the necessities that we must take care of include rent, utilities, groceries, propane (for hot water and the gas stove as we live in a camper trailer RV), car insurance and car payment, copays for chemotherapy and other critical appointments for my mom as well as copays for much needed counseling sessions for my little brother as he copes with surviving abuse inflicted upon him from his father (my ex step dad).
Every little bit helps whether it’s $50 or $5 because it all adds up in the end. We know that times are tough for everyone and it has placed us in a very vulnerable and fragile position but I have found that it doesn’t hurt to ask. Never underestimate the kindness and generosity of strangers, right? Anyway, if you are able please consider making a contribution by visiting the campaign here:
https://www.generosity.com/emergencies-fundraising/help-judi-as-she-fights-third-stage-colon-cancer–2/x/13557786
You can also help by making a contribution via PayPal which goes directly into my mothers account:
http://PayPal.Me/cmmarq
Another way you could help is by REBLOGGING this post about our struggles with mom fighting cancer and about the crowd funding campaign. Just raising awareness through a reblog is a significant help in and of itself.

Thank you so much for your consideration. You really can make a significant impact on the lives of a small, struggling family. Blessings, love and light!

Hi Robert,
Not going to lie, very surprised by the vast amount of replies thanking you for the support and linking poems and other blogging posts.
I would like to say the same. Truth be told, I do it more for myself, and a way to vent, my views are small (not a complaint in any way), the stuff I write is personal and also I don’t particularly want a massive viewership or anything (but this is probably due to the fact I thought no one would care, like, or may even find my work a bit too sad, or confusing).
Thanks for the likes, thanks for the support, for poems that I write to vent, and tend not to reread myself after I post them. Was a pleasant surprise. Thanks!
Especially thankful as you’ve published poems, and seem published and clearly know how to write poems.
For liking a small random person’s own, personal, random, poems for venting. It is truly appreciated.
Thanks so much!
