I’m pleased to announce that three of my poems are live at the stellar literary journal Book of Matches, which features poems from such luminaries as Ace Boggess, my wife and partner in everything—Stephanie L. Harper—and Tim Kahl, among others. https://www.bookofmatcheslitmag.com/post/issue-14-unfurls-its-petals
Many thanks to editors Nicholas Christian and Kelli Allen for taking these pieces, and gratitude to Luanne Castle for providing the title and inspiration for one of them (I’ll let you guess which one).

Stellar, as always.
Congratulations, Bob.

I like the idea of benevolent side effects. If only…but glad you are still around, asking questions. (K)

Life (and dying) would be much more pleasant! It’s good to still be here, despite multiple setbacks.

Wow, congrats, Bob – just read them! I like your letter poems – so intimate and relatable. And how they take the bull by the horns, so to speak.

Thanks, Lynne. The writing of the letter poems seems to come from a different well, so to speak. They’re difficult to begin, but once I manage to start they come easily.

And do those addressed in these poems see them before publication or is this a nice or accidental surprise? (just curious)

Mostly they don’t see them, but I’ve let them know on occasion that a poem to them will appear in a publication. This is after the poem’s been accepted, which sometimes takes years, alas.

Book of Matches is quite the handsome PDF magazine. I was delighted with the occasional burnt edges or mark on a few pages, and wondered how they achieve that effect.
Of course I had to read your poems and Stephanie’s. I will now go about my day, and perhaps my life, wondering if trees dream.

Book of Matches is a fine publication. I was thrilled that they took three poems, and Stephanie’s poem in the same issue made it even more special.
