Moths

Moths

Small moths stir
in the darkness.
I feel their

wings brush my
face, my hands,
remembering the cry

of something unseen.
It is windy
again this morning.

  1. Many Native Americans consider moths a symbol of transformation, healing and prayer, and moth cocoons are used as sacred rattles in some tribes. In other tribes, moths are associated with death and ghosts and may bring messages from the spirit world. You seem to capture that symbolism in the poem.

  2. Robert, I have utilized this little poem for some creativity. Feel free to check out my effort as she will be posted within the next hour on hollyknits.com and is entitled Toads. I love your poetry and hope you take this as a compliment.
