In Praise of Time
We marvel that so much
produces only
more of the same,
increased yet
diminished, no two
alike yet never
differing, earth to
soil, glacier to rain,
stardust to morning,
open, filled, wasted,
lost, killing, preserving,
making more, wanting.

That’s how the cosmos works. Constand pressure to expand and increase until. . . what? Sally

A great poem to happen to read on a Monday holiday, when time feels different.

Holiday time has never felt right to me. But now that I no longer regularly work on Mondays, it’s not holiday time. π

Thus, it is okay, and fine, even, to enjoy the holiday. Since my birthday falls often enough around the Memorial Day weekend, it has always been my favorite long weekend.

Yes! My wife’s birthday also falls around this weekend, and we generally celebrate her birthday over several days.

This is great, Robert! Makes me think of Ecclesiastes.
(And maybe Dr. Who :-)….I saw the comment above about regenerating.)

Well, Dr. Who, of course!

How true! Time is all you so beautifully describe. I’m capturing a bit of it by reading rather than lying wide awake in bed. πππ

I like the idea that I don’t make time, time makes me.

Making, breaking… It seems that both apply to my life.

You are becoming one of my favorite poets. Also, in my Reader feed, I can usually tell a post is by you simply by looking at the title!

You have made my day, Susan. Thank you! Hmm. I’d never thought that my titles were that unique. π

You have a better vocabulary than most bloggers. So there is almost always some terribly precise word, and I think, yep, it’s Robert’s blog.

Well, I like words, but don’t want to waste them. So precision comes into play. π
