While browsing the Poetry Foundation’s articles, I uncovered this piece from 2016. Jim Harrison has long been one of my favorites. His success at prose has perhaps caused some to forget or disregard his poetry, but in my mind, he’s always been a poet first.
What a great entry…I hadn’t seen that one. He was/is a distinct treasure! Thanks for sharing that.

It was the gorgeous trout that drew me in. What a beautiful life and poet. His description of the funeral gave me chills. “With one eye” …oh I lost my quote! But indeed with one eye he saw so much!

He led quite the life! His account of a meal with Orson Welles is hilarious and poignant, as are his ghazals. One of my literary heroes!

Same here, Sarah. He certainly was a larger than life character.
