Two Poems at Lucky Lizard Journal

Lizards

My apologies to Caidan Walker and the Lucky Lizard Journal team. I somehow neglected last month to acknowledge their fine publication, in which two of my poems appear. Thanks very much for taking my pieces!

      • Snowfall here in mid-Missouri usually is scattered throughout the season, melting within a few days, but we started January with a foot over 2 -3 days, and temps to keep it around. As is typical, we also had sleet, but that fell after the first inch of snow and left 1/2 inch of ice under the rest of the snow that fell. Things were shut down for a couple of days, and temps have been lower than usual, so snow is still on the ground. At least the streets were clear after the second day. It’s funny how I worked outdoors in Buffalo winters like it was nothing, but now I get a chill going out for the morning paper.

  1. Both such beautiful poems. So gentle, so full of truth and longing. (As for forgetting to mention these publications, that’s what happens when suddenly you’re swamped with them! :))

  2. As with other readers, I appreciated the zebra calcite poem for the feelings you expressed from that proverbially solid object. Bravo!

But then there was the tractor seated poem, and after last night’s reading I’ve now encountered poems with tractors in them two days in a row. That’s a small blessing for this kid who grew up in a small rural town.
