MasticadoresUsa is helping to promote my first full-length collection, Our Loveliest Bruises (3:A Taos Press), which was released in January 2025. i’m unable, due to health, to adequately promote the book via the usual path (a tour, readings, etc.), and am extremely grateful to Barbara Leonhard for providing this service and for sharing two poems from the collection: “Ashes” and “My Mother’s Ghost Looks Away When I Say Her Father’s Name.” Thank you, Barbara!

Really beautiful “deep” poems, Bob and how wonderful and insightful the comments and reviews on the book!

Congrats again on the wonderful book …
These poems trigger my mental somersaults wondering about the now-connections between my father and my son who never met in “life” but shared so many similarities there is no doubt my son’s source. Hoping whatever the lingo they DO share perspectives and nod at one another’s similarities … maybe share jokes about my peculiarities?

Thanks, Jazz! Iβm so grateful to the people and the gods who made it possible for me to see the bookβs publication. The odds have not been in my favor, but here I stand, still wondering, still questioning.

This is a well-deserved feature, Bob.
Barbara is an insightful editor, as well as poet in her own right.

Bob, how can I capture this in a quippy, easy response?
No chance.
The coal of this, hardness, a gem-like beauty that resonates with way more hardship than hard-ness. Sakura but not easy, like the floating pinky-salmony-evanescence we might want of such memorable blossoms. Minds me of Tow’rs Forgone.
Or the Cowboy Junkies’ Those Final Feet.
Not a mandolin, though, a Shakuhachi, maybe, but just in memory, or wishfulness? Or is the mandolin the equivalent of that mystical flute? I suspect it is, in my limited experience.
Love these. I’m so glad to have encountered you and your work.

Such aching beauty. I’m glad these are finding a larger audience. (K)

“I accept with silence my inheritance of silence…”. NO ONE can ever accuse you of not being a poet ever with a line like that. Once again, your genius is showing like a bra strap under silk organza… π
