Love your poems. Regarding the last one, how difficult it must be for one who cannot see the light and objects around him.
On the other hand how difficult it is for those who refuse to see with is right in front of them!
the pace & movement of the lines in these pieces is unlike anything i’ve read of your before. your poems are usually so steady, they take their time despite their brevity. it is the density. but oddly, these palinodes are dense but the lines fire out at you. truly wonderful, challenging work.
I’d never written prose poems, so I thought to give it a try. These pieces appeared over a period of about four months. As I mentioned above, I knew they’d be difficult to place, but that’s never a reason to stop or change the writing.
The poems are great; I loved the set. You always continue to teach and inspire me with your style(s) of writing. Every time I read your work, it opens my mind, and I think ‘oh, you can do that/ write about that/write like that.’ I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your work.
Congrats! These three poems are fascinating to read. The first one about birds really resonated with me – birds can be seen as a metaphorical whole, with no distinction between male or female, yin or yang, light or dark. I also love how these three prose poems give birth to a million other possibilities, depending on how you look at them. I can’t stop reading them 😂
They are absolutely awesome.. read them thrice…. loved them everytime. So much to learn from you… I’m sure glad I follow you… the prose poems… I’ll surely give it a try….
Prose poems are strange characters for me – I have to approach them from a different place. But I find them enjoyable to compose. And thank you for your kind words.
Congratulations!

Thanks, Tami. I wrote about a dozen of these around three years ago, knowing they’d be difficult to place. Slowly but surely…

The process for writing these differs ever so slightly from my usual process. Odd, now that I think of it.

Thank you, Manivillie. You are too kind. Attempt different styles and forms. Challenge yourself. It’s fun, and ultimately rewarding.

Thank you, DeanJean! They’re a little dense and abstract, so I’m very pleased that you’ve taken the time to read them.
