Unwinding
As in a day’s long
thread
or with cold drink
in hand,
glass sweating,
ice
shrinking, a little
sweet,
some salt, her
smile saying
relax, put up
your feet,
I’ll take care
of this,
don’t worry,
tomorrow’s
a full moon
away.

Excellent poem Robert, the words immediately instill a sense of calm.

I think we all thirst for a moment like this. To have our troubled quenched if only momentarily.

I have noticed from your poems and other writings that you have an affinity for beer; a margarita would make that moment perfect for me! 😉

Beer and I have had a long, fruitful relationship! There may be a margarita in this poem – after all, salt is mentioned. 🙂

My version of this poem would be titled something like, Unraveling, or maybe, Disintegrating… So I will just bask a moment in the serenity of your version, and breathe… ❤
I kinda dig the accompanying photo of art imitating life, too! That must’ve been a gratifying find. 😃

I’ve been “unwound” only briefly since November – a few hours in late December. But maybe more is coming. We can hope. Yeah, I enjoyed finding that one. It was perfect.
