This is kinda fun. The Slag Review published “Scarecrow Pretends” back in January, and now this has appeared on the Long River Review’s blog. I’m always grateful when someone extends the life of one of my poems. Thank you, Benjamin Schultz.

Well, that’s a little bit brilliant! Looks like Dr. Schnee and I better get used to sharing you with the world at large… ❤

It always amazes me that someone I don’t know thought enough about something I wrote to write about it. 🙂

I can’t imagine anything more rewarding, really.

It’s hard to beat. We know there’s not much tangible payoff in poetry – a few bucks here and there, at best – and the writing itself is the main reward. But the occasional out-of-the-blue acknowledgment that what we do has meaning to someone, somewhere, can make a huge difference in our days.

He certainly gets around. Next month he’s scheduled to appear in a print publication. 🙂

A nice little overview, Bob. I’m glad he noticed and noted how your poetry quietly folds in deadpan humor. As I was mowing grass, I was thinking about how fitting you’d be as a Texas Poet Laureate and then moving onto National Poet Laureate. Occasionally I have a prophetic moment. I sincerely hope that’s one of them!

Poetry doesn’t enter my mind much while mowing. I’m more likely cursing the ground I walk upon, and swearing at the mosquitoes and wasps. 🙂

I do some of that cursing, too, mind you! But I also let my mind wander during repetitive tasks like that. The problem is, I can’t remember the dialogue or ideas I’ve come up with while mowing, most of the time.
