A little more on the ghazal from the Academy of American Poets. I’ve become enamored with the form. We’ll see what comes of this latest enthusiasm!

It’s an intriguing form. I first encountered it years ago in a Jim Harrison book. But Harrison refrained from using the repetitive and rhyming aspects of the form. This is more rigorous, I think, although I love the Harrison ghazals.

It is a form to be enamored of. Was just reading Lorca’s “Terrible Presence” and thinking “Man, Robert’s got this just as tight.” Go….

Ooh, Lorca! Am always half afraid to read him, as I fear that I’ll try to copy him, and fail miserably. But who can resist?

It is fascinating to read about ghazals in such details…it is a beautiful art form , subtle and mellifluous

My reading of them has been rather willy-nilly – one here, one there. But I’ve ordered three books, which should give me a good dose of ghazals!
