Does the peach
blossom
count its
numbered days
in the lure of false
spring?
Smiling, you admit pleasure
in cruelty,
in assigning lots
to the relief of those
never called,
and those whose answers
remain open,
unfixed.
The freeze is coming,
you say.
Let us pray.

Bob! “Does the peach blossom
count its numbered days
in the lure of false spring?”- Like a brisk slap from a breeze. I might read it 10 more times. ❤️

The peach orchards around here often face that question, but I think not this year. So pleased you like it!

Wish the forecast was more accurate here, woke this morning to torrential rain, only got a weather warning after it started. Bloody useless. Island weather is immense sometimes.

Not the kind of surprise you want to wake to.

In a matter of minutes my clothes are drenched right through. Still drying now a few hours later. Doesn’t seem right, a few minutes to become wet, then a few hours to dry out.

The life of a poet! You can spend six months and untold hours working on a poem that someone will read in a few minutes and say “that was okay.” Or worse.

That’s why i never finish poems, seems better that way. When ever they get to a certain stage, i just abandon it, rather leave it, till it is recruited to service, then i fuss it a little again, till used, it enters the kalpa/ samsara that is my posting & submitting.

I seldom worry them to death, anymore. But there was a time!

There was always a time. i think i still fret, but with more confidence, if that makes sense. Like i know that i’ll know when it is right & if it isn’t, then that’s ok.

Yeah, sometimes “good enough” must do.

Such a torturous forecast you bring us, but I’m enthused by your soothing lines,
“Smiling, you admit pleasure
in cruelty,”

I suppose some lines soothe more than others. 😀
