Politics
No snakes here,
but a little voice
says the mice
will return,
and which
do you prefer,
the one that
gnaws open
ramen packages
then craps
on your plate
or the one
who takes
its prey
under the house
and swallows
it whole,
leaving
no bones
behind?
“Politics” first appeared here in January 2017.
Brilliant, Bob!

we can’t win, can we?

It certainly feels that way much of the time.

The poet knows so much about politics he can barely talk about that dodgy activity and affair…

I tried ignoring politics, but that didn’t work. 🙂

You’re not alone Bob. I’ve also tried many times to wish politics away from my concern, but here we are talking about it again. 🙂

It never disappears entirely, does it.

Indeed it doesn’t. Getting rid of poly-tic totally is like battling some bloodsucking crawlers…

I’m trying to figure out once again how to write about political issues in these days. You’ve found a way in this one.

I seem to do better when I don’t try. Lately my writing has been full of failure, and I blame it on not letting it develop naturally. But sometimes impatience wins out…
