The Garden
But what of this notion
of the romantic?
It rained last night.
I could smell it
before it fell,
each drop a perfect
sphere until the final
moment. This
is fact, impractical but
lovely for its truth.

Initially posted here in January of 2014, the poem was published many years ago (30?) as a poetry postcard offered by the literary journal Amelia. I admit to being wrong about the shape of raindrops. But hey, they start out spherical…
This is a day for rain poems! Did you and rivrvlogr coordinate, or is this synchronicity?
(No actual drops in my part of Austin today …)

Synchronicity! Though Ken would be a great person to coordinate with. We had a few drops of rain, but not enough to amount to anything.

Thank you Robert. You’re poem is beautiful. I like the way it is set with 2 and 2 lines. The structure flows with the words.

Thank you! When in doubt, couplets are my default.
