Odi et amo (zero)
How I fear what you contain.
Reaching through,
I find only more you,
but when I multiply your being,
the result limits me.
I add myself to your body and obtain
only myself. If nothing is something,
how, what, may I claim?
Your beginning and end, a line
become circle, become identity.
I enter, and entering, depart.
“Odi et amo (Zero)” first appeared on the blog in December 2015, and was published in The Basil O’Flaherty in October 2016.
You’ve got my head spinning … my life (birth to death) as circle becomes my identity? I wonder what establishes “identity” – does another have to recall my full circle for it to be so? My own brain and likely my own heart are incapable of full recall – seems I’ll leave behind no specific identity, rather multiple varying perceptions. Circle vs. zig-zag in the eyes of the beholder?

I remember this and think it would go wonderfully with an enso. Zero is a particular favorite of mine. (K)

It has a beautiful rhythm to it, Robert! I find myself reading it over and over again. 🙂

Thanks, Susi. Zero is a fascinating subject. Much ado about nothing. LOL

You’re welcome! Well, according to my engineer husband – zero is all about everything! 😉
