I’m delighted to have two poems appearing in the inaugural edition of MockingHeart Review. Many thanks to editor Clare Martin for her efforts in assembling this publication.

From Alternative Fiction & Poetry (1987)
(This first appeared in March 2014).
Quite the interesting mag back in the day. This particular issue saw the likes of Bukowski, Ivan Arguelles, Lyn Lifshin, Norm Moser, Sheila E. Murphy, and, well, me, among others. I was thinner back then, as was my poetry.
no more than
the slow grace
of light turning
the leaf so
patient in the
air and colder
now that sense
of permanence unfurled
it is not
long to wait
as Wang Wei
said in his
letter I listen
for a sound
but hear none
3 Poems in Shadowtrain
I have three poems appearing in the latest (and evidently the last) issue of Shadowtrain. Many thanks to editor Ian Seed, for allowing these to hop aboard.
Day Two, Tupelo Press 30/30 Project
My poem, “Stuck” has now been posted among the second day’s offerings of Tupelo Press 30/30 poems. Many thanks to Curtis Bausse who sponsored the poem and provided the title. Here’s the result:
Stuck
As in yesterday’s light
pressed in a wildflower
or its silhouette
embroidered in cotton…

Tomorrow’s poem will be titled “Calvin Coolidge: Live or Memorex,” thanks to my good friend Ron Evans of Alvarado, Texas who donated $10 for the right to challenge me with a title to an unwritten poem. With friends like Ron… 🙂
If you’d like to compete with Ron for worst title in the distinguished history of the 30/30 Project, please visit the 30/30 blog at: Donate to Tupelo. Scroll down to “Is this donation in honor of a 30/30 poet?” and select my name, “Robert Okaji,” from the pull down so that Tupelo knows to credit the donation to me. And please let me know as soon as possible what your title is.

Thank you for your support! Only 28 poems to go!
Recording of My June 4th Reading with Chip Dameron
I felt like this before the reading, but loosened up a bit and enjoyed it. I read ten poems, five from my chapbook, If Your Matter Could Reform, three unpublished pieces, and two that have appeared or are about to appear in publications.
The recording may be found on the Malvern Books YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmPg_0W0oNw
And please take the time to view Chip Dameron’s reading. He’s a fine poet, very engaging.
My micro-chapbook, YOU BREAK WHAT FALLS, is now available through the Origami Poems Project
This is pure fun! My micro-chapbook, You Break What Falls, is available through the Origami Poems Project. What is a micro-chapbook, you might ask? In this case, it consists of six short poems on one sheet of paper, folded (hence origami) to form a chapbook. You may download it, free of charge, here: http://www.origamipoems.com/poets/236-robert-okaji
Oh, yes. Folding instructions are on the Origami Poems Project site.
Another Review of My Chapbook, IF YOUR MATTER COULD REFORM, and the print version has been released.
Another review of If Your Matter Could Reform is up on GoodReads, as well as on the reviewer’s blog:
And of course the print version has now been released:
With shipping, to U.S. addresses, the total should be $6.00. The shipping to international addresses will, I’d imagine, vary.
